St Stephen's Church, Skipton St Patricks Night 2004 |
|
A great night was had on the occasion of St Patrick’s feast day. A lavish meal was prepared by volunteers and the tables were set to reflect the occasion, with green, yellow and white table linen.
The evening commenced in splendid style and despite the weather Many parishioners fought their way in to celebrate the occasion. Meanwhile in the kitchen the temperature was rising as the Irish stew was being lovingly prepared, by a devoted team of skilled parishioners.
However, some of this same devoted team managed to find time to enjoy themselves. Their salaries of course will be reduced accordingly!
The meal was superb and the dash of Guinness in the stew increased the demand for seconds. (And thirds)
Then in customary fashion the games commenced and the singing and entertainment was led by the wonderful Irish voice of Kevin and his supporting pianist, Susan. Once the cats were let out the sopranos lent a hand.
The enjoyment lasted until the wee small hours of 10.00pm. The wine flowed and the songs were sung. Some good souls held a prayer vigil to ask God for desert.
Alas for some it was all too much and status collapsicus eventually won the day. Nothing that two days in the convent won't cure girls.
