Events - Fr Peter's Silver Jubilee Mass & Reception

The Vigil Mass of St John the Baptist at Threshfield was the first of three Jubilee celebrations for Fr Peter. Mgr Hennessy is delivering the homily in this picture.

After 10am Mass on 24 June 2003 with some children from the school. Fr Peter is standing with Fr Killeen, his former parish priest when he was a boy in Betham!

Food preparation went on all afternoon under the supervision of Rev Deacon Malcolm King. Here some of the ladies of the parish help to prepare a porcupine-like starter!

Malcolm also made this beautiful cake.

The church was packed for the 7:30pm Mass. Over 20 visiting priests assisted (hidden in the Lady Chapel) and the choir was out in force. Fr Ian Kelly from Salford University preached.

After cutting the Jubilee Cake, Fr Peter is presented with a generous gift from the parish to his great surprise.

The parish lawn was a beautiful setting for the Reception after Mass on a lovely evening. Fr Peter is pictured here with some of his family.

After the festivities comes the clearing up as the marquees come down. You're never too young (or old!) to help in St Stephen's parish!
